What to Prepare
You would need to make sure that you have everything you need and all that you need to know about how to set up a pop up camper. A basic pop up camper includes a trailer frame, box, hard roofing, pull-out bunks and walls made of soft materials such as vinyl or canvas. Added inclusions to the inside of your pop up camper are the following:
- Fold-down dinette
- On-board fresh water tank or container
- 12-volt DC power system
- Interior DC lighting
- 2 sleeping bunks
- Storage cabinets
If you are carrying a small pop up camper, you will have to learn how to utilize space using your equipment for different purposes. For example, the dinette may be converted into a bed for added sleeping space. The couch can also turn into a bed. In order to maximize space, gas stove and inside tables may be taken outside the camper and attached to its sides. These are pretty much the basic things you need in setting up a pop up camper.
Setting It Up
Before you set your pop up trailer, do a spot check of your chosen campsite. Make sure that there is sufficient water hookup and the electrical outlet is on the right portion of the area where your hookup is.
To open the pop-up, disconnect it from the tow vehicle. First, assemble the roof by raising it with a winch that extends the poles on each corner. Next, pull out the bunks at the front and back of the pop up camper. Then, unfurl the tent material and pull it over the ends towards the bunks. After which, install the interior poles supporting the bunk and entry door.
If you have added equipment such as the dinette and water tank, you may need to do additional set up. The same is true if you have awning, you need to learn how to set up awning on pop up camper. Reassemble your fold-down dinette, unfold the sink, turn on your water system by hooking it up on an electric outlet, make the bed and unpack your things and place them on the storage cabinet.
If you have learned the ways on how to set up a pop up camper, it will be easier the next time around.
